SAVE OUR SNOW
Save the Winter Games, 2026
CINEMATOGRAPHY · EDITING
A campaign film created for New Weather Sweden as part of Save the Winter Games / Save Our Snow, an international initiative challenging fossil fuel advertising and sponsorship in winter sports.
Ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, the film connects the rapidly changing future of winter sport with the companies still being allowed to advertise within it. Using former elite skier and climate advocate Emil Johansson Kringstad as its central voice, the campaign draws a parallel between the Olympic movement’s historic break with tobacco sponsorship and the growing call for sport to distance itself from fossil fuel companies.
I was responsible for the cinematography and editing, working from the development of the visual approach through filming in Falun and final post-production. The film combines documentary interviews, observational footage, archive material and campaign graphics with a restrained visual language built around snow, movement and the increasingly fragile conditions surrounding winter sport.
The piece was developed to work both as a standalone campaign film and as part of a wider communications initiative around the Winter Games. Its closing message — “Save Our Snow. Ban Fossil Ads.” — reflects the wider campaign’s demand for winter sport to end promotion and sponsorship from major climate polluters.
